Tennessee State University and Federal Emergency Management Assistance (FEMA) officials announced a partnership to create a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) for north Nashville residents at the University’s Ford Residence Complex, May 13. Operated by the state of Tennessee and FEMA, the center provides assistance to those affected by severe storms and flooding that started on April 30.

Additionally, representatives from the Tennessee Department of Human Services were on hand to discuss the number of resources it would offer to residents affected by the flood, including emergency food stamps, replacement food stamps and emergency cash assistance at the time of the announcement.

Earlier in the week, Tennessee State University opened a business recovery center on the Avon Williams Campus in downtown Nashville with the Small Business Administration (SBA) to provide relief assistance to recent flooding by - the first business recovery center to open in Tennessee.

The DRC is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., (local time) seven days a week until further notice. Disaster officials ask that before visiting the center, people first register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 800-462-7585 for those with speech and hearing disabilities. Help in all languages is available.
